Office Support Substitute
Do you run your own online business, freelance, or otherwise work for yourself from home?
Imagine swapping your kitchen table for a lively dog facility where you can do your normal work, hang out with dogs, and get paid hourly on top of the income you're already earning.
We're building a small pool of Office Support Substitutes at Four-Legged Fun Zone. This isn't a traditional part-time job—it's a flexible substitute setup designed for self-employed professionals who want a fun, paid change of scenery a few days a month.
HOW THE "PAID CO-WORKING" SETUP WORKS
- Bring Your Laptop: Set up shop in our space and do the same income-producing work you'd normally be doing at home.
- Pick Your Sub Day: Choose at least one weekday as your designated substitute day. You aren't paid to reserve the day, and a shift isn't guaranteed. When our regular team needs backup, we'll typically reach out the evening before to see if you can work 9:00 AM–2:00 PM.
- Step In & Step Out: When we need an extra hand, pause your own work, help our team or greet a client, and then head back to your desk when you're no longer needed.
- Substitutes are expected to accept shifts when coverage is needed on their designated day to remain active in the substitute pool.
WHAT YOU'LL DO WHEN WE NEED YOU
While much of your shift may be spent doing your own work, Four-Legged Fun Zone comes first while you're on the clock. Depending on what the team needs, you may help with:
- Front Desk & Greeting: Welcome clients, assist with basic check-ins/checkouts, and provide front-desk coverage.
- Paws-On Deck: Step in so daycare staff can take a break, actively supervise dogs, or help safely move dogs between rooms and play areas.
- Grooming Support: Supervise a grooming dog waiting for pickup, bring a dog to their owner at checkout, or provide an extra set of hands by holding or steadying a dog for the groomer.
- Facility Help: Set up or take down x-pens, help with Dream Den transitions, and pitch in with light cleaning or other basic facility tasks.
WHO THIS IS PERFECT FOR
The Work-From-Home Business Owner: You already have an established business, freelance/contract work, online sales, or other self-employed work you can bring with you.
- The Flexible Worker: Your work doesn't depend on uninterrupted calls, back-to-back Zoom meetings, or strict minute-by-minute deadlines. You can pause your work when we need you—and keep it paused if coverage takes longer than expected.
- The Dog Enthusiast: You're comfortable around dogs of every size—including 150+ lb dogs—and don't mind barking, slobber, dog hair, muddy paws, and the energy of an active pet facility.
THE LESS-EXCITING STUFF
Every fun job comes with a little fine print. Before you pack up your laptop and come hang out with the dogs, here are the boxes we need you to check:
- The Pay: $18/hour, or $90 for a full 9 AM–2 PM substitute shift. Shifts are offered as needed and are not guaranteed.
- Established Work-From-Home Income: Currently have an established business, freelance/contract work, online business, or other self-employed income-producing work you normally perform from home.
- Stability: At least one position, business, or ongoing professional commitment held for 12+ consecutive months since 2023.
- Customer Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a fast-paced, customer-facing role.
- Local to Everett: Live within a 15-minute drive of 6628 Evergreen Way.
- Physical Capability: Comfortable being on your feet when needed and able to stand, walk, bend, crouch, move x-pens, and safely assist with dogs—including very large dogs.
- Reliability: Strong communication and follow-through. Once you accept a shift, we're counting on you.
- Background Check: Must be able to pass a federal background check.
- Dress for Dogs: Comfortable, durable clothes and closed-toe shoes are a must. Expect dog hair, muddy paws, slobber, and the occasional mess.
IMPORTANT REALITY CHECK
This is not a traditional part-time job. Hours are not guaranteed, and this position is not intended to develop into a regular part-time or full-time schedule.
This is not a desk-only job. Although you'll have time to work on your own business during many shifts, you'll interact directly with dogs and may need to put your laptop away when coverage is needed.
Your own work must be truly flexible. If you can't immediately step away from it when a client, dog, groomer, or daycare team member needs you, this won't be the right setup.

If you've already got portable work, love dogs, and like the idea of earning extra money while doing work you were going to do anyway, we'd love to hear from you.
