Walker + Dog Daycare Attendant

Everett, WA
Full Time
Entry Level

We absolutely want people who genuinely love dogs to apply.
But loving dogs alone is not enough for success in this role.

The people who tend to succeed here usually have MOST (ideally ALL) of the following traits:

  1. You are extremely reliable. If you say you’ll be somewhere, people do not wonder whether you’ll actually show up.
  2. You do not shut down when things get inconvenient. Traffic, schedule pressure, unexpected messes, dog behavior issues, and last-minute curveballs are part of real pet care.
  3. You are genuinely comfortable driving AND working outdoors in all typical Pacific Northwest conditions. Rain. Cold. Dark winter mornings. Heavy downpours. Occasional snow. Slower roads. Wet gear. Muddy paws. Dogs still need care.
  4. You are physically tough. Walking up to 15 miles per day, handling strong dogs, getting in and out of the vehicle repeatedly, bending, cleaning, and staying active all day feels manageable—not miserable.
  5. You make sound judgment calls without constant supervision. You can assess situations, think critically, and make practical decisions instead of freezing, panicking, or needing someone else to solve every problem.
  6. You are highly punctual. Time-sensitive client care means “a few minutes late” can create a ripple effect.
  7. You are comfortable with the unglamorous side of animal care. Accidents, diarrhea, vomiting, muddy paws, occasional blood, barking, strong odors, and imperfect situations come with the territory.
  8. You are emotionally steady. Dogs do best with calm, confident handlers—not people who become easily flustered.
  9. You work well independently. Much of the day involves managing real responsibility without someone standing beside you.
  10. You are looking for steady, long-term work—not a short-term stopgap or casual side gig.

This role tends to be rewarding for people wired this way—and frustrating for those who aren’t.

How the Role Works

  1. Dog Walking Routes (9:00 AM – 2:00 PM): You’ll independently manage established walking routes for recurring clients, entering client homes, safely handling dogs in public, staying on schedule, and making real-time judgment calls involving behavior, health observations, and safety.
  2. Dog Daycare Attendant (3:00 PM – 6:00 PM): Back at Four-Legged Fun Zone, you’ll help supervise structured daycare groups of approximately 10–15 dogs. That means reading body language, maintaining calm group dynamics, stepping in when behavior needs redirection, and helping keep the environment safe, clean, and well-managed.
