Dog Groomer - No Weekends
Searching for Our Mary Poppins of Dog Grooming
Remember how the Banks children wrote a very specific list describing the nanny they wanted? We’re doing the same — because we’re looking for our Mary Poppins.
We’re interviewing now for a January start date (or sooner if you prefer).
The Behaviors of Our Mary Poppins Groomer
✔ You send a same-day text with a cute photo + short update
- Clients treasure these as keepsakes. It builds trust and long-term loyalty.
✔ You write quick notes after each groom (because no one remembers everything)
- This ensures consistency for the dog, the owner, and the team.
✔ You confirm tomorrow’s appointments the day before
- Prevents no-shows and gives you time to fill any gaps.
✔ If someone cancels, you offer the next available spot AND fill the hole
- Protects your income and keeps clients on a healthy grooming schedule.
✔ You can squeeze in a waiting-list client when needed
- Those “thank you SO much!” moments build loyalty and referrals.
✔ When a cancellation can’t be filled, you use the time wisely
- Nail trim for a daycare dog
- Quick go-home bath
- Practicing a new technique (with permission)
- Filming a brushing tip video
You don’t sit idle — you contribute.
✔ You maintain a calm, predictable grooming flow
- Dogs thrive on your steady energy — owners rely on it.
✔ You stick to your set schedule so clients always know when you’re available
- (And you schedule personal appointments on days off to avoid client confusion.)
✔ You notice when a regular hasn’t been in and gently reach out
- This is a relationship-based salon — clients feel seen and valued.
What Makes This Job Different (and Magical)
✔ Your own private grooming room
- Quiet, calm, organized, and completely yours.
- No chaotic floor. No sharing tables. No juggling multiple dogs.
✔ One dog at a time
- Start to finish — no rushing, no assembly-line grooming.
- Perfect for groomers who value quality and comfort.
✔ Short, focused 5-hour shifts
- Earn more per hour without 9–10 hour grooming days.
✔ Built-in clients from daycare, walking, and training
- No cold calls. No hunting for leads. No drama.
✔ Relationship-based environment
- We know every dog and every owner.
- If you love connection, this will feel like home.
Compensation
Paid for every hour on-site PLUS commission:
- Hourly Base Pay = $18.00
- Commission: 35% of daily grooming revenue
- Tips: 100% yours
- Referral Bonus: Earn 5% of what your referred clients spend in their first year (about $45 per client — roughly $225/year if you refer five).
- Quarterly bonus: rebooking, communication, and consistency
Qualifications (Don’t Skip This Part)
✔ 24+ months of recent professional grooming experience
- Ensures you can confidently handle full grooms without supervision.
✔ Formal grooming training (grooming school, vocational program, or documented apprenticeship)
- We want a groomer who has a strong foundation, not just self-taught experience.
✔ Stable work history — at least 12 consecutive months at your last grooming job
- Our clients build long-term relationships with their groomer; consistency matters.
✔ Able to complete full grooms independently across multiple breeds
- We’re a one-dog-at-a-time salon, so you need to manage the full process yourself.
✔ Reliable, punctual, and steady in their workflow
- Keeps our one-dog-at-a-time schedule running smoothly.
✔ Physically able to lift 50 lbs and stand most of the shift
- Standard requirement for large breeds and safety during handling.
✔ Willing to complete a paid test groom
- Allows you to show your grooming style in a real-world setting.
✔ Lives within ~15 minutes of Everett (6628 Evergreen Way)
- Shorter commutes reduce lateness and burnout, ensuring reliability for clients.
