Remember how the Banks children wrote a very specific list describing the nanny they wanted? We’re doing the same — because we’re looking for our Mary Poppins.
We’re interviewing now for a January start date (or sooner if timing aligns).
The Behaviors of Our Mary Poppins Groomer
You send a same-day text with a cute photo and short update
You write quick notes after each groom (because no one remembers everything)
You confirm the next day’s appointments ahead of time
If someone cancels, you help offer the next available spot and work to fill the opening
When a cancellation can’t be filled, you use the time productively
You maintain a calm, predictable grooming flow
You stick to your set schedule so clients always know when you’re available
You notice when a regular hasn’t been in and gently reach out
What Makes This Job Different (and Magical)
Your own private grooming room
Groom one dog at a time, start to finish
A relationship-based grooming environment
Autonomy, trust, and professional judgment are expected
When the Magic Isn’t the Right Fit
This role is not a match for groomers who:
Feel uncomfortable being the only groomer on site during their shift
Whose daily focus is grooming, rather than rebooking, retention, or long-term client relationships
Prefer client communication, complaints, or concerns to be handled by management
Are accustomed to having dogs moved in and out by a receptionist, rather than handling transitions themselves
Assume open time will be filled by reception, rather than participating in follow-ups, waitlist outreach, prep, or care tasks
Commute more than 30 minutes which could impact punctuality, energy, or schedule consistency
This role is designed for groomers who enjoy ownership, autonomy, and direct client relationships.
